Keep
Texas Beautiful |
|
|
Through Keep Texas Beautiful, Quintana won the
Governor's Community Achievement Award in 1995 and 1996
based on excellence in Cleanup, Education, Recycling/Solid
Waste Management, Beautification and Illegal Dumping. In
1996 Quintana also won the coveted "Award of
Excellence" as the best in the state.

By involvement with
Adopt-A-Beach and Adopt-A-Highway cleanups, hundreds of
volunteers support the message: Don't mess with Texas.
Quintana's recycling efforts were
noted in a video by the Texas Natural Resource
Conservation Commission as being "the smallest Town
in Texas to curbside recycle". What began as a
volunteer program has grown to include all business and
residents with free curbside pickup of recyclables. The
separation and donation of aluminum cans to the
"Aluminum Can Plan" built a pavilion and swing
set on Town Hall grounds to be enjoyed by residents and
visitors alike.

In staying with the goal and
mission of Keep Texas Beautiful, Quintana has become a
cleaner and more enjoyable place to live and visit.
